So, one thing that's so exciting about the Hawks playing for the Stanley Cup is that the games are on regular tv! Yay! Wait, what? You mean all the games are not on network tv? But, but...we don't have cable! We didn't make alternate arrangements for watching the game! Love the radio play-by-play but we wanted to watch *pout*
We can solve this...we're resourceful...AND we have the...internet! Interwebs to the rescue! Thank you Japan for streaming the game live. Yep, that's right. To watch a game happening thirteen miles away we needed to stream a Japanese sports channel.
The Stanley Cup finals start tonight. In honor, here's one of my favorite Blackhawks related memories...
Growing up my dad would get hockey tickets from time-to-time. I loved being at the games...the sounds, the excitement, the Zamboni. I had all sorts of Hawks stuff. One of my favorites was pajamas.
Dad was a true morning person and I have never been a morning person. Every morning I would shuffle past where my dad was sitting at the breakfast table. He'd say 'good morning' in a far too cheerful voice and me, eyes barely open, would raise my hand in the slightest of acknowledgment.
One morning, as a I shuffled by in my Blackhawks pajamas, my dad let loose with a spirited "Here come the Hawks...the miiiiighty Blackhawks!" Despite the early hour I actually smiled.
this is a cool video of old footage and the snazzy 'here come the Hawks' song!
